Tips on Selling Vinyl Record Collection

Few things to consider when you are looking to sell your record collection.

Check the condition of your records. You may find it difficult to sell records which are in poor condition or have deep scratches, damaged sleeve, or just don’t sound good. Dealers and record collectors are most interested in records which are in top condition. We would save the less looked after vinyl for a charity shop donation.

Genre is important. The most popular genre amongst record dealers and collectors are progressive rock, folk, blues, jazz, soul, reggae, punk, metal, indie, rock. So, if your collection consists mostly  of easy listening or country and western albums you may be dissapointed to find out that your collection is not worth much.

Labels. Vinyl record collectors interest will vary depending on the label. The most sought after record labels are Vertigo, Island, Atlantic, Neon, Decca, Track, Blue Note, Harvest, Trojan, Parlophone, Apple, Blue Horizon, Deram, Stax. So, if you have a record from one of these labels and on top of that it is in a very good condition you may expect some interest.

Do not be guided by the prices on the internet. There are many factors which contribute to the value of a record. For example condition, label, country of release, number of records currently on the market. If you are unsure you can book a valuation with a local records dealer. Hussar Records can provide no-obligation honest and free valuation in the Exeter and Devon area.
